Well, I've built and wheeled my 91 F250 for about two years now, and decided that it would make a better tow rig.  So I'm constructing a tube frame buggy for rocks, mud, sand, snow, trails and water.  The drivetrain is a 2.0L Honda with an auto transaxle.  HD 44 front, FF60 rear, 42-18.4-16.1 tractor tires.  Full air suspension with three links.

This pic is from two weeks ago, when I had a day off from work.  The front axle is hard-mounted to the frame right now, thats why it is not flexing!  I had to get the axles under it to get it home from school at the end of the term.  Since then all I've had time for is the rear suspension.

This shows the down travel that the three-link can do.  The airbag will go almost that far, so it will need at least two limiting straps per axle.  The driveline will be the hardest part.

What is your driveline idea? I dont see how your going to get that much travel with a single shaft driveline? Looks good though, I cant wait to see the key turn the engine over and drive!

The driveline will not have that much travel.  But it should still be able to flex.  I may have to use three limiting straps, two for the airbags and a shorter one for the driveline.  I'll probably just start with one and see how it works.

The tires were $75-100 each, used.  Two came from the Woodburn auction yard, two from a guy at school and two from Farmland Tractors in Albany.  They are made for a 16-18" wide rim, so the sidewall is pulled in a lot on a 12".

I'm not sure what is going to happen with the reaming.  One knuckle still needs to be machined before I can put an arm on it.

would'nt one limitlig strap in the middle of the axle be enough, it seems like the driveshaft would be the only real problem so the centered strap would take care of that and still allow all the twisting you need?

The center strap is a good idea.  I have seen people use a big chain as the center limiting strap as well.  Unless you plan on jumping the crap out of it,  The center strap should work well for yah.

BTW looking good

I think the single centered strap will work fine.  The trick will be figuring out how to bolt it on.

Had an unfortunate accident today.  My dad and I siphon the gas out of the gas tank from the car and in to the fuel cell.  Ok, fine so far.  But when I came back from lunch, there was gas all over the cell, frame and floor.  Turns out the filler cap is only vented to allow air in, not out.  The cell warmed up and the pressure forced the gas up and out the suction line.  I had both the suction and return ports taped off to keep dust out.  So rather than the air going through the tape on the return, naturaly it pushed the gas out the suction!    AARRGGHH!!!!!     Most of the paint on the frame is ok, but the part under the cell is toast.  So now it will be a while before I can weld in the barn again.  At least the brackets on the rear axle are welded on and the bump-stops are in so it can be rolled around.

Does anyone have a brake line flanging tool I could borrow?  The brake lines are one of the next things to work on.  There is a place in Salem on 12th that can make custom braided stainless lines, but I have to find out how much that would be.  The lines will T in the center of the axle and then go along the upper wishbone to the skid plate and up from there. I still need to find a brake master cylindar and booster.  The one from the Accord is probably to small.

Everyone is envited to come help next Sunday the 13th.  I'll post up in the Events area also.

I got the last two tires pulled off the 16x17 tractor rims and cleaned, ready for mounting next week.

Here is the rear suspension, with one airbag mount and one straight link.

Can we insert more than one pic per post?  Is 650x 400 a good size?

On top of that truss, on the rear axle, looks like a real good spot for your center limiting strap mount.  I can't really tell from the pics if there is a cross member above it or not.

I just went back to see the rest of your pics.  It looks like there is a cross member above it.  Looks like it would work out sweet.
